Meghalaya is regarded as the best place for cave exploration in India. Meghalaya boasts of having over 1350 caves with hundreds more yet to be discovered. The longest and the deepest in the subcontinent are located in Meghalaya with the longest having 35 Km, and deepest being 317m. Many of the caves home to a rare and unique form of cave life. Most caves are located in Khasi & Jaintiya Hills and are stretching to over 300km.

Siju: Siju is famous for its Bat cave, locally known as Dobakol. close by on the other side of Simsang river is the Siju Bird Sanctuary, A home for many rare protected birds.
Krem Chympe, Krem Umthloo and Krem Liat Prah in Jaintia Hills. Mawsmai Cave, Krem Mawmluh and Krem Ri Blai in Khasi Hills and Siju Cave and Tetengkol Balwakol in Garo Hills
