Waterfalls

1. Akashiganga Falls
You might have seen this picturesque falls on the calendars or postcards! The indescribable beauty of Akashiganga Falls is never to be missed in Naogaon of Assam. It is the largest waterfall and also a religious place in Assam. According to the legend, when Vishnu uses his Chakra (wheel) to disperse the corpse of Sati, her body pieces falls at different places. It is believed that Sati’s head fell at this place near Akashiganga Falls. Hence, it is a pilgrimage place for the Hindus. Akashiganga Falls is one of the popular waterfalls in Assam.

 

2. Sivakunda Falls
Sivakunda Falls is a dazzling beauty cascading in Amsoi Hills at Morigaon, Assam. The scenic Sal Trees and Teak Trees surround the Sivakunda Falls to give a graphic look! A small pool at the foot of the falls makes up for the ideal picnic spot for the locals. The milky white water and the pool make it one of the famous weekend getaways in Assam.

 

3. Kakochang Waterfalls
Kakochang Waterfalls is one among the best tourist places in Jorhat region of Assam. The mountains, dense forests and remnants of a historical place looks perfect along with endeavouring falls. The surrounding tea plantations are yet another enchanting vistas at Kakochang Waterfalls. Kakochang Waterfalls is located about 13 km from Bokakhat in Jorhat District of Assam. It lies in between Kaziranga National Park and Bokakhat. It is an important picnic spot where tourists can enjoy picturesque views of the nature along with the forests and hills.
Kakochang Waterfall is the Majestic and must visit place near Kaziranga National Park. Actually this place is situated at Karbi Anglong district but nearer to Bokakhat in Golaghat district Assam which is 13 km away from Bokakhat Town.
By air: Nearest airport is at jorhat (domestic flight available) and as well as connected to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Borjhar, Guwahati, Assam. which has direct flight to all the major cities of the country. one can easily hire a cab or take public or private buses till Bokakhat, Assam.
Rail: nearest railway station is Numaligarh, and railway junction is Furkating. From where one can easily hire cab or catch public or private bus facility to Bokakhat, Assam.
Road: Bokakhat is well connected by road to all the major cities and town of north east. Public as well as private buses both day and night services are easily available to Bokakhat. From Bokakhat one can easily hire a cab or auto rickshaw till Kakochang Waterfall.
4. Champawati Kunda
Waterfalls Champawati Kunda or Chapnalla waterfalls is named after the place Chapnalla in Nagaon. This picturesque waterfalls is near to the historic Kaliabor and is one of the popular waterfalls in Assam. Locals, as well as the tourists love to explore the charming vistas of Champawati Kunda Falls.
5. Panimur Waterfalls
In the North Cachar Hill District of Assam, there is the waterfall of Panimoor which is a famous tourist spot. Situated about 120 km away from Haflong, the Kopili River is obstructed by stones, but yet it turns into a gushing milky white waterfall at this spot called Panimur and is indeed an ethereal beauty. The panoramic view of the scenery attracts a number of nature lovers and photographers into this place. There is a Forest Inspection Bungalow in this place, which can house a few tourists but needs to be booked in advance, especially in the tourist season. Panimoor is the only hill station of the district, and thus, favoured by a number of tourists, especially during winter and spring. The Panimur fall also causes flood in the lower lands during the monsoons.
