The land of hilly people
A soothing view of sheer natural beauty laid along rows of north-south running mountain ridges, virgin Mizoram is more likely a journey of a lifetime than a mere tourist destination. The word ‘Mizo’ is a generic term, which literally means ‘Hillmen’ and the word Mizoram is a compound of three words,’Mi’ implying man, ‘Zo’ meaning hill, ‘Ram’ meaning Land, which together connotes “land of the hill people”. Living to its own rhythm along the peaks and mountains surrounding the region,Mizoram is a landlocked state. With a rich stock of nature the state invites hundreds of tourists every year to color them with it’s vivid colors. Heavily occupied by mountain ranges till the eyes could reach, this place is a home to thousands of aquatic birds with wild ducks of different species. The rich flora and fauna is certainly a call for large areas of forest cover which itself is a treat for the visitors.Various species of orchids keep the forests covered throughout the year enough for treating your eyes anytime of the year. The diverse culture of the region keeps the people united especially for the respect they have for each other’s culture, religion and beliefs. The state is far untouched from today’s modernist ideas of lifestyle except the city of Aizawl which is a modern city of today’s world.
