Menchukha is a small town which lies 6,000 feet (approx 1,829 m) above sea level in West Siang District of North Arunachal Pradesh, India. The name Men-chu-kha means medicinal water of snow; where men is medicine, chu is water and kha is snow. Mechuka, which is an unexplored valley of Arunachal Pradesh in the Eastern Himalayas is blessed with marvellous beauty of blue hills, river Yargyapchu/Siom, and lush green forests.The main attraction of Mechuka is its natural scenic beauty and the ancient Buddhist Monastery Samten Yongcha of Mehayana sect. This 400 year old monastery is perched at a hilltop in the western part of Mechuka valley. This Gompa or monastery is contemporary to the great Tawang monastery of the state and it serve as one of the important tourist spot of the region. The popular name for Menchukha is Mechukha. The local population is primarily Membas, a Tibeto- mongloid ethnic group.The one thing that’s unique about Mechuka is the hospitality of the people. They are always helpful, smiling and courteous.

Menchuka is a village situated in northern part of Arunachal Pradesh. The village is famous for its scenic valley and every year in the month of November, Menchuka Adventure Festival held here.The festival, jointly organised by the union tourism ministry and state tourism department along with the event partner – Centre for Cultural Research and Documentation (CCRD), Naharlagun, aims to brand Menchuka, also known as Mechukha, as a preferred adventure tourism destination.

Day 1

ARRIVE DIBRUGARH   Meals: Dinner   You will be received by our representative at Dibrugarh Airport   (IATA: DIB, ICAO: VEMN) of Dibrugarh, Assam. If you choose to reach Dibrugarh  by train, we will meet you at the railway station. Then we will take you to your respective hotel so that you can refresh yourself or have some food. Explore some local markets nearby at the evening and don’t forget to try some delicious foods.   Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 2

DIBRUGARH TO AALO ( 253 KM/ 7 HRS)   Meals: Breakfast and Dinner   Post Breakfast, we will start our journey towards our destination i.e. Menchuka. But we cannot reach Menchuka in one day so we have to stop at Aalo for one night. We will cross the Bogibeel Bridge- the longest rail cum road bridge of India. Then after some hours we will enter Arunachal Pradesh. We will be helping you in getting Inner Line Permit (ILP). Aalo is a small town located beside the Siyom river. Aalo is the headquarter of West Siang district. We will reach by Aalo by evening.   Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 3

AALO TO MENCHUKA (187 KM/ 5 HRS)   Meals: Breakfast and Dinner   Wake up and enjoy the picturesque view of Siyom river. Post early breakfast, we will continue our onward journey towards Menchuka. We will drive along Siyom river till Menchuka. We will reach Menchuka by afternoon. Enjoy the beauty of Menchuka with its brown mountains and Siyom river Take rest as we have some plans for you the next day . Join the bonfire at night and do tell some crazy stories of yours.   Overnight stay at Homestay.

Day 4

EXPLORE MENCHUKA Meals: Breakfast and Dinner Post breakfast, we will explore the beautiful village of Menchuka. After that we will go for trekking or hiking in the nearby hills. Then we will visit the following places:
  • Gurudwara Menchuka Sahib.
  • Santem Yongcha Monastery.
We will reach hotel by evening. Don’t forget to try some local foods. Join us at the bonfire at night. Overnight stay at Homestay.

Day 5

MENCHUKA TO PASIGHAT ( 289 KM/ 8 HRS) Meals: Breakfast and Dinner Its time to leave this beautiful place. We hope that you loved this beautiful village. We will take the same route to return and Siyom river will be our friend to guide us again. We will take halt at Aalo, eat lunch and will leave for Pasighat. Its a 4 hrs drive from Aalo. We will reach Pasighat by the evening. Take rest at the hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel.  

Day 6

PASIGHAT TO DIBRUGARH ( 150 KM/ 3 HRS) Meals: Breakfast and Dinner Post breakfast, its time to explore Pasighat. Pasighat is the headquarter of East Siang district. Today we will visit the following places:  Pasighat Buddhist Temple: Located in the opposite side of the air strip from the highway, this small temple serves as the only Buddhist worship place in Pasighat.  East Siang District Museum: Also located in the opposite side of the Pasighat Airport, it is the district museum of the East Siang District.  The Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh, India, is one of the most popular wildlife parks of the state. Spread over an area of 190 square kilometres (73 sq mi), alluvial grasslands form the major area and wooded areas constitute about 15%. The rest is water. Present land of the sanctuary was mostly donated by the mebo and monngu Banngos. We will leave for Dibrugarh after lunch. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 7

DEPARTURE FROM DIBRUGARH Meals: Breakfast Post breakfast we will drop you, either at the airport or at the railway station(depending on your choice) for your onward journey.
